Asahi Kasei Corporation today organized all of its healthcare-related businesses under its newly formed, wholly owned subsidiary Asahi Kasei Pharma Corporation. Asahi Kasei Pharma includes Asahi Kasei businesses in pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical intermediates, diagnostics, and biopharmaceutical/biological filtration products for virus removal under the Planova™ brand name.

The establishment of Asahi Kasei Pharma is an integral part of a transformation program at Asahi Kasei Corporation to a holding company configuration to enhance management speed and transparency. Under this transformation program, all Asahi Kasei core businesses have been separated into seven separate business units and a new system of executive officer management has been established to facilitate quick response to changing business environments and clear delineation of authority and responsibility.
