IBD™ wins prestigious "Technology of the Decade" award

1214_img01.gifのサムネイル画像During the 2012 BioProcessTM International Conference & Exhibition, the IBDTM Inline Buffer Dilution System was named the "Technology of the Decade" in the field of downstream processing.

The award was part of a larger contest in which BioProcess International celebrated their 10th year of publication by honoring technological advances that have transformed the field of bioprocessing during the last ten years.

Debottlenecking downstream processing facilities

Clinical and commercial-scale manufacturing of biotherapeutics was previously hampered by the manual, labor intensive production of buffers in which physiochemical properties were subject to variability. Since 2007, IBDTM Inline Buffer Dilution Systems have enabled biopharmaceutical manufacturers to overcome these obstacles.

Unique process analytical technology (PAT) controls pH and conductivity simultaneously while the compact footprint helps replace large buffer tanks with disposable bags. As a result, 1X binary and ternary buffers are accurately and efficiently blended on-demand from up to 20X salt solution concentrates before being delivered to existing equipment, such as bioprocess chromatography systems, to accelerate capture, polishing, virus filtration, and fill/finish of biological products.

The buffer blending technology common to IBDTM Inline Buffer Dilution Systems was awarded United States Patent 8271139 in September of 2012. As yields from upstream processes rise and applications such as continuous processing become more prominent, IBDTM Inline Buffer Dilution Systems are primed to accommodate the increasingly complex needs of the biopharmaceutical industry.
